The Camel story begins in Guilford in 1964, when brothers Andrew and Ian Latimer formed
The Phantom Four. In 1969, with the addition of Andy Ward and Doug Ferguson The Phantom Four
became The Brew. Then after Peter Bardens joined in 1971, the band changed its name to Camel.

There have been numerous changes in the band's line-up, notably the addition of Richard and
Dave Sinclair from Caravan in 1978.
